Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at IWU Spring Fling

The Emory University women's golf team finished the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling in fourth place as the tournament schedule was altered for the rainy conditions. The tournament was played at the 5,805-yard, par-72 Ironwood golf course in Normal, Illinois.

After playing 27 holes on Saturday, the No. 1 ranked Eagles finished with a 36-hole total of 612 (295-317) which landed them just off of the podium in fourth place at the tournament. No. 13 St. Catherine came from behind to win the tournament, matching the best two-round score in the tournament's history with a 601 (304-297). No. 3 WashU (606) took home the silver medal while No. 15 Illinois Wesleyan (608) earned bronze. 

Sophomore Ellen Dong finished highest on the leaderboard at tournament's end for the Eagles as she ended tied in fifth after carding a 150 (71-79). Freshman Katie Park led the field in total pars with 27 which led her to finishing tied for seventh with a 36-hole total of 151 (71-80). Sophomore Sharon Mun had yet another top ten performance as she logged a 153 (75-78) which placed her tied for tenth. Junior Irene Wang had a rock-solid tournament finishing tied for 21st after recording a 158 (78-80). Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was freshman Cindy Wang whose two-round total was 170 (80-90) which saw her finish tied for 51st. Sophomore Heejo Hyun finished in third amongst all individuals as she tallied a 160 (74-86) which placed her 28th overall against the field.

This marks the Eagles last tournament of the regular season before they travel to Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida for the NCAA DIII Championships on May 9-12.
