Women's Golf Tops Huntingdon at The Shoals

The Emory University women's golf team opened the fall schedule this past weekend, competing against Huntingdon College at the Robert Trent Jones Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The two teams battled intense heat over the two-day exhibition. On Saturday, the programs squared off in a two-person team event across five matches. The Eagles were victorious in four of the five matches with sophomore Kiley Malmberg leading the way with a team-low score of 70. Junior Sharon Mun checked in with a 72, as did newcomer Esther Jung.

"It was very hot out there but was nice to see some low numbers on a golf course that the team had never seen before," said Coach Liz Fernandes following the event. "I was very happy with the results and overall performance of the team."

The teams were back on the course Sunday morning, playing individual matches in twosomes. Across the 10 matches, the Eagles went 8-1-1 to finish out the strong weekend.

Emory will officially start the fall season this weekend as the team travels to Granville, Ohio for the Barclay/Schweizer Invitational, hosted by Denison University.
