Athletes of the Week

(Nov. 10) Sophomore Nancy Wilson scored the game-winning goal helping Emory University to defeat Carnegie Mellon University 1-0 in the Eagles' season finale. Wilson finished the season tied for the team lead with six assists and led the team with a .250 shot percentage. She was second on the team in goals (8) and points (22).

Sophomore goalie Amy Franciscovich increased upon her school record with her 12th shutout of the season in a 1-0 Emory University victory over Carnegie Mellon University. Franciscovich finished the season with a 0.43 goals against average (GAA), tying the second-best mark in school history. She is ranked 10th in the nation in GAA. Her 79 saves is the second-best season save total by an Emory goalie.


(Nov. 3) Jenna Kereiakes scored her team-leading 12th goal of the season in a 2-0 Emory University victory over New York University. Kereiakes also leads Emory in points with 26 even though she has missed four games due to injuries. She is tied for the seventh highest goal-scoring season in Emory history. She is the ninth Emory player to score 21 goals in her career.

Jenny Sale scored the first goal of her career to help Emory University to a 2-0 shutout of New York University. Sale helped lead the Eagle defense to its 12th shutout in 18 games this season, two shutouts behind Emory's single-season record. Emory is ranked eighth in the nation in goals against average. If Emory shuts out its opponent in the season finale, Sale and the Eagles' defense will tie the school record for fewest goals (8) allowed in a season.


(Oct. 27) Jenna Kereiakes scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season in a 2-0 Emory University victory over Piedmont College. Kereiakes also leads Emory in points with 24 even though she has missed four games due to injuries. She has the 12th highest goal-scoring season in Emory and she is the 11th Emory player to score 20 goals in her career.

Jenny Sale helped lead the Emory University defense to a 2-0 shutout of Piedmont College. The Eagles outshot Piedmont 18-2 in the game. Sale also added an assist on Jenna Kereiakes' second-half goal. Sale and the Eagle defense have 11 shutouts in 16 games this season. Emory is ranked 10th in the nation in goals against average.


(Oct. 20) Junior Carrie Eckenhoff scored the game-winning goal for Emory in a 2-1 victory over Case Western Reserve. The goal was Eckenhoff's third on the season. She is fourth on the team in goals and points. Eckenhoff holds the school record for assists in a season.

Sophomore goalie Amy Franciscovich had 11 saves in two games. Franciscovich made eight saves, her second-highest total of the season, in a 1-0 loss at University of Rochester. She had three saves in a 2-1 victory over Case Western Reserve. In the latest NCAA Division III soccer statistics, Franciscovich was ninth in the nation in lowest goals against average (GAA). She is on pace to tie Emory's single-season record with a GAA of 0.40..


(Oct. 13) Jessie Dean scored the only goal of the game in Emory's 1-0 victory against Washington (Mo.). It was her second goal of the season and both were game-winners. Dean leads the team in game-winners and is second among all Eagles freshmen in goals and assists. Emory is ranked No. 15 in the nation and No. 3 in the region.

Goalie Amy Franciscovich made six saves to pick up her ninth shutout of the season. Her defensive effort in the 1-0 win against Washington (Mo.) improved Emory's home record this season to 5-0. With Franciscovich in front of the net, the Eagles have yet to allow a goal at home on the season. She ranks eighth in the nation for best goals against average. Franciscovich moved into fourth place on Emory's career saves list. She is one solo shutout away from tying the school record. Emory is ranked No. 15 in the nation and No. 3 in the region..


(Oct. 6) Sophomore Jenna Kereiakes led the offense with two shots on goal in two games. She fired at the goal twice in a game against NCAA Division I school Jacksonville State. Kereiakes shot once against Chicago, ranked fourth in the nation, in a game that was scoreless during regulation play. She currently leads the team with nine goals and 20 points despite missing four of the team's 10 games due to injury.

Sophomore goalie Amy Franciscovich made 15 saves in two games, allowing only two goals. She made a season-high 10 saves against Jacksonville, an NCAA Division I team. Franciscovich made five saves, her 2nd best performance of the season, against Chicago, who is ranked 4th in the nation. Franciscovich ranked eighth in the nation in goals against average, having allowed 0.20 goals per game..


(Sept. 29) Sophomore Jenna Kereiakes scored eight goals along with two assists in three games, all wins for the Eagles. Against Wesleyan, Kereiakes had four goals and one assist. She came within one goal of matching Emory's single-game goal record and within one point of matching Emory's single-game point record. Against Agnes Scott, Kereiakes scored her second hat trick of the week and added another assist. Kereiakes also scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Oglethorpe. She currently leads the team with nine goals and 20 points despite missing four of the team's ten games due to injury. Last season Kereiakes led the team in goals with nine and points with 23. Her previous single best game was a five-point effort last year, also against Wesleyan. Emory improves its season record to 9-1, tying the best start in school history.

Freshman Laurel O'Neal was part of an Emory defense that had three shutouts on three Emory victories last week. The Emory defense did not allow a shot at goal against both Agnes Scott and Oglethorpe and gave up only two shots at goal against Wesleyan. O'Neal and her teammates have recorded nine shutouts this season. That ties the team's shutout total for all of last season and is five shy of the school record with nine games left to play in the season. After 10 games, the Eagles have outscored their opponents, 31-2, and outshot their opponents, 247 to 66.


(Sept. 22) Senior forward Stacie Twehues led Emory with five shots in a 2-0 loss to the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, Ohio Wesleyan University. In the one game Twehues set a career high for shots in a game. The Eagles are now 6-1 on the season.

Senior Jenny Sale had a solid defensive effort in a 2-0 loss to Ohio Wesleyan University, the No. 1 ranked team in the nation. Undefeated Ohio Wesleyan has scored at least two goals in every game this season. The game against the two-time defending national champion ended the 10th ranked Eagles' streak of six consecutive shutouts from the start of the season, a school record. Sale was playing in only her third game of the season after recovering from a pre-season injury.


(Sept. 15) Junior midfielder Lauren Lankford scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 Emory victory over Southwestern (Texas). Lankford then assisted Alison Stitz's goal less than three minutes after her own score. It was the first three-point game of Lankford's career. The 12th ranked Eagles are now 6-0 for only the second time in school history.

Freshman Laurel O'Neal was part of an Emory defense that pitched two shutouts last week, and hasn't given up a goal in Emory's first six games this season. In two games last week the Eagles defense gave up 13 shots compared to the 34 shots that the Eagles took. O'Neal contributed offensively with an assist in a 3-0 victory over Southwestern (Texas). This year the Eagles have taken more than three times as many shots as their opponents. Emory's 6-0 start is the first time in school history that the Eagles have opened the season with six consecutive shutouts.


(Sept. 8) Junior Carrie Eckenhoff scored the game winning-goal against Austin (Texas) in a 2-0 Emory victory. With the goal, Eckenhoff moves into 17th place on the Eagles' career points list and 19th on the career goals list. The 20th ranked Eagles had two wins on the week and have started the season 4-0 for the second time in school history.

Sophomore goalie Amy Franciscovich earned two shutouts on the week leading the Eagles to their second 4-0 start in school history. Franciscovich has shutouts in all four Emory victories this season nearly matching her total of five shutouts in 19 games last season. It is the first time that the Eagles, ranked 20th in the nation, have ever opened with four consecutive shutouts. Against Hardin-Simmons (Texas) Francisovich had four saves and at Austin (Texas) she had three saves. She now has 74 saves in her Emory career, which is good for fifth on Emory's all-time list.


(Sept. 1) Freshman Adrienne DeMarais scored four goals in two games to help nationally ranked Emory University to a pair of victories. She scored a hat trick, all in the first half, in a 4-0 win against Millsaps (Miss.) and added another goal in a 3-0 win at Rhodes (Tenn.). DeMarais is the ninth freshman in school history to record a hat trick. This is the earliest in a season that an Emory freshman has recorded a hat trick. Emory, ranked No. 25 in the nation, is off to a 2-0 start for the ninth time in the program's 18-year history.

Nancy Wilson contributed to a pair of defensive shutouts and added a pair of goals to help nationally ranked Emory University to two wins. The sophomore was part of the defense that limited the opposition to seven shots and four corner kicks combined in two games. She scored the first goal of her college career in a 3-0 win at Rhodes (Tenn.) and added another in a 4-0 win against Millsaps (Miss.). Emory, ranked No. 25 in the nation, is off to a 2-0 start for the ninth time in the program's 18-year history.
