Emory University's Lee Bachouros earned
University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Athlete of the Week
honors for women's soccer, following her performance during two
games last weekend.
Bachouros played the entirety of two games last weekend, helping
hold opposing teams to just 12 shots, only four of which were on
goal. In a 1-0 overtime loss to the 10th-ranked
University of Rochester on Friday, Bachouros and the Emory defense
held the Yellowjackets to just six shots, three of which were on
goal. During the Eagles' 2-1 win over Case Western Reserve
University on Sunday, the freshman defender helped the Eagles limit
the Spartans to just one shot on goal, and six shots
total.
She becomes the third Emory women's soccer player to be named a UAA
Athlete of the Week this season, joining Kirsten
Baecher (Sep. 15) and Emily Rubin (Sep.
28). All three players earned the honor based on their
defensive efforts.
Bachouros has been a key member of the Emory defense, which has
recorded a 1.29 goals-against average this season. Her play
has helped Emory to a 5-5-5 record this season.
