The Emory University women's soccer team suffered a hard-fought
2-1 loss to the 11th-ranked team in Division III, the
University of Chicago, on Saturday afternoon.
Emory took an early lead in the contest, as senior co-captain
Talia Dweck scored her first goal of the season
off a penalty kick in the 30th minute. The Eagles
would carry that 1-0 lead into halftime.
However, Chicago would answer back in the second half, as Sarah Loh
would knot the matchy with a goal in the 58th minute,
followed by a 74th minute goal for Brooke Bontz, the
eventual game winner.
Despite scoring her first goal of the season, Dweck is now tied for
the team lead with eight points this season (one goal and six
assists). The penalty kick goal was the first of the season
by an Eagle.
Emory dropped to 4-2-4 (0-1-1 UAA) on the campaign with the loss,
the squad's first to a Division III opponent this season. The
Eagles are now 0-1-2 against ranked opponents this season.
Chicago improved to 9-1-1 (1-0-1 UAA) with the win.
Emory will return to action on Friday, hosting New York University
at 7:30 PM.
