The Emory University women's soccer team will open its 2009
University Athletic Association (UAA) season against the squad it
split the conference championship with last season, as the
Eagles will host Washington University (Mo.) at 1:30 PM on
Sunday.

Emory will enter the contest undefeated in its last seven matches
and with a 4-1-3 overall record this season. The Eagles are
currently ranked sixth in the South Atlantic Region and are 1-0-2
in home contests. Emory is yet to lose to a Division III
opponent this season.
Washington will enter the contest ranked 13th in the
Nation by the NSCAA and 18th by D3Soccer.com. The
Bears are 7-2-0 overall this season, including a 3-1-0 record in
road matches, and have won seven-consecutive contests.
The Eagles are 14-5-1 all time against Washington University,
including a 2-0 loss in St. Louis, MO last season. Emory is 8-1-1
all time at home against the Bears.

Emory's scheduled match against Spelman College last Wednesday
was cancelled... Emily Rubin was named the
University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Soccer Defensive
Athlete of the Week for her performance during Emory's two games
last week... The junior co-captain has scored three goals this
season as well, all of corner kicks, to lead the Eagles in
scoring... Junior Meghan McMahon also scored her
third goal of the season against Guilford, and is tied with Rubin
for the team lead in points and goals... Senior Talia
Dweck leads the team with five assists this season,
including two off corner kicks in Emory's win over Guilford... The
Eagles have now outscored their opponents 15-5 during their
seven-match undefeated streak, and 8-1 during their three match
winning streak.
