The Emory University women's soccer team remained undefeated
against Division III opponents, as the Eagles played to a 1-1
double-overtime tie with 13th-ranked Washington
University (Mo.).
The Eagles are now 4-0-4 in their last eight contests, since losing
their opening game of the season. Washington dropped 7-2-1 on
the season, and failed to win a game for the first time in their
last seven outings.
Emory struck first in the contest, as a long shot from
Talia Dweck was rebounded by junior Meghan
McMahon, who knocked it in for her team-best fourth goal
of the season in the 11th minute. Dweck's assist
was her team-best sixth of the season.
Washington would respond 13 minutes later, as Emma Brown notched
her 10th goal of the season unassisted, knotting the
contest at a goal apiece. Neither team would score the rest
of the way.
Emory's Kirsten Baecher made nine saves in her 110
minutes in goal, including a diving save in the second overtime to
preserve the tie for the Eagles.
Emory will return to action next weekend, as the Eagles will travel
to the University of Chicago for their second UAA game of the
season on Saturday.
Game Notes:
Emory's four ties this season are the second most in a single
season in the program's history, trailing only the 1998 team which
played to six ties... Emory is now 14-5-2 all-time against
Washington University... The Eagles did not allow a corner kick to
the Bears during the game, while taking four of their own.
