The 22nd-ranked Emory University women's soccer team
dropped an exhibition match at the Woodruff Physical Education
Center on Tuesday, losing 2-1 to the Division II University of West
Georgia.
The Eagles struck first in the match, with freshman midfielder
Katy Kruse scored in the eighth minute off an
assist from senior midfielder Talia Dweck.
However, the Wolves' Kate Marnock and Cydney Raymond each scored
unassisted goals in the first half to give West Georgia a 2-1
advantage. Both teams would go scoreless in the second
half.
Freshmen Kaele Leonard and Erica
Stein each played a half in goal, with Stein playing
shutout soccer in the second half, including a save.
Emory will open its regular season on Wednesday, September
2nd at Lee University.
