Emory University senior Lauren Smith scored a ‘golden goal’ to lift the seventh-ranked Eagles to a 2-1 overtime victory over Carnegie Mellon University in the team’s regular-season finale. Smith broke a 1-1 tie with a penalty kick goal, just over two minutes into the first overtime period. It was her team-leading seventh goal of the season, and her second ‘golden goal’ of the campaign. Smith has helped the Eagles to a 14-1-3 record, including a second-place finish in the University Athletic Association (UAA) with a 4-1-2 record in conference matches.
