Emory University junior Merrill Bachouros scored three goals over two NCAA Tournament games last weekend, leading the fifth-ranked Eagles to the round of 16. During Saturday night’s 3-0 win over Piedmont College, Bachouros scored the game-winning goal in the 50th minute, and followed with an insurance goal just over two minutes later, becoming just the third player in Emory history to score multiple goals in an NCAA game. The forward scored again the following day, converting a shot at the 57:15 mark en route to a 2-0 Emory win over Centre College in the second round of the tournament. Bachouros leads all Emory players with eight goals and 20 points this season, and has tied the program record for career NCAA Tournament goals with three. She has helped the Eagles go 17-0-2 during the campaign, matching a program record for wins, and reach the NCAA’s round of 16 for the second-straight year.
