#4 Emory Women’s Soccer Remains Undefeated with Win over Lynchburg

The fourth-ranked Emory University women's soccer team completed its weekend sweep of the Roanoke Invitational, defeating Lynchburg College 1-0 on Sunday to remain undefeated on the season.

Emory freshman Emily Feldman scored the lone goal in the contest in the 48th minute, striking on a shot from 20 yards out that hit off the right post and into the back of the net.  The score was the third of the season for Feldman, who now leads all Emory players in goals and points.

Meanwhile, the Eagles defense was stellar again, holding Lynchburg without a shot on goal during the match, and limiting the Hornets to just three total shots.  Lynchburg was able to take just one shot in the second half against Emory's defense.

Junior goalkeepers Erica Stein and Kaele Leonard combined for their third shutout in four games this season, lowering their combined goals against average to 0.24.

Emory was able to take six shots during the game, four of which were on goal.  Each team had three corner kicks during the contest, although the Eagles held a 2-0 advantage in corners during the second half.

With the win, Emory remained undefeated on the season, improving to 3-0-1, while Lynchburg dropped to 2-2-0 on the year with the loss.

The Eagles will wrap-up their five game season-opening road swing on Friday at Birmingham-Southern College at 7:00 PM, before returning to Atlanta for their home opener on Sunday at 3:30 PM against Maryville College (Tenn.).
