Patberg Named the NSCAA/Mondo Regional Coach of the Year

Emory University head women's soccer coach Sue Patberg was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Mondo Coach of the Year for the South Atlantic Region, following the team's record-setting campaign in 2011.

Patberg led the Eagles to a program-best 17-1-2 record and a University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship during the 2011 campaign.  Emory set program records for wins in a season, consecutive victories to start a campaign, shutouts and goals against average during the season.

Patberg and the Eagles completed the first undefeated regular season in Emory Athletics history in 2011, advancing to the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament.

This was the first-ever Regional Coach of the Year honor for Patberg, who has garnered a 241-110-36 record during her 19 seasons as a head coach, including a 95-22-18 mark during her six years at Emory.

Patberg will join the award recipients from the other regional along with coaches whose teams advanced to the NCAA semifinals on the NSCAA/Mondo National Coach of the Year ballot.  The recipient of the national award will be announced at the NSCAA Convention on Friday, January 13th.
