Lauren Gorodetsky

Emory University senior defender Lauren Gorodetsky scored three goals and led the 10th-ranked Eagles to a pair of shutout victories over two games last week.  Gorodetsky scored both goals on a pair of shots during the Eagles’ 2-0 win at Birmingham-Southern College on Friday night.  She scored her first goal of the contest following a corner kick in the 70th minute, and then converted a free kick for a goal in the 90th minute.  The center back also led an Eagles’ defense that limited the Panthers to just four shots in the game, only one of which was on goal.  Gorodetsky scored another game-winning goal during Emory’s 2-0 win at Berry College on Sunday, heading in a corner kick in the eighth minute of action, while also helping hold the Vikings to one shot on goal, and seven total shots.  Overall during the two games, the Emory defense allowed the squad to outshoot its opponents by a 44-11 margin, lowering the team’s season goals-against average to 0.71 with three shutouts.  Gorodetsky, a three-time all-American and two-time University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player, now has 10 career goals, six of which have been of the game-winning variety.  Gorodetsky and the Eagles have won three-straight games, and now stand at 5-2-1 for the campaign.
