#6 Emory Remains Undefeated with 3-0 Win against Berry

Emory University senior Charlotte Butker put the Eagles on the board early in the game, and senior Emily Feldman and sophomore Cristina Ramirez added late scores, to propel the sixth-ranked Eagles to a 3-0 win over Berry College at the Woodruff Physical Education Center on Saturday.

Emory remained undefeated in 2014, picking up back-to-back wins for the first time this season and improving to 3-0-2 overall.  Berry dropped to 5-2-0 with the loss.

Butker gave Emory a 1-0 advantage in the 20th minute of action with her second goal of the campaign, both of which have been of the game-winning variety, and have come in the last two contests.  The scoring play was started on a long throw-in by senior Claudia Rowe, which leaked past a defender and to the feet of Butker inside the box, who finished for the score.  Rowe earned her first assist of the campaign on the play.

The score remained 1-0 until late in the game, when the Eagles would break through for a pair of scores in the final 10 minutes of action.  Feldman extended Emory's lead in the 82nd minute, launching a long shot off the fingertips of Berry keeper Jackie McGivney and into the net for her second goal of the season.  Ramirez supplied Feldman with the initial pass to pick up her second assist of the year.

In the final minute of action, Feldman would return the favor to Ramirez, sending a cross in front of the box that Ramirez knocked home for her second goal of the year.  Both Feldman and junior Jordan Morell claimed assists on the play.

Goalkeeper Liz Arnold played all 90 minutes, making three saves to earn her second shutout of the year, and the team's third.  Emory outshot Berry 20-11 in the game, including a 10-3 edge in shots on goal.

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, wrapping up their home stand with a 1:00 PM game against Capital University (5-2-0), a semifinalist at last year's NCAA Division III Championships.
