Eagles Look to Rebound in Monday Matchup with Birmingham-So.

The Emory University Women's Soccer Team will look to rebound quickly from its first loss of the season, when the squad heads to Birmingham, Alabama for a 8:00 PM ET game on Monday, October 13th against the Birmingham-Southern Panthers, a make-up of a contest rained out earlier in the year.

Emory Eagles
Emory stands at 7-1-3 for the season, including a 3-0-1 road record this season.  The Eagles have outscored opponents by a 22-6 margin this season, averaging 2.0 goals per game and recording a 0.51 goals-against average.  The squad has outshot opposing teams 242-88, including a 135-38 edge in shots on goal.

Emory's offense has been led by seniors Emily Feldman and Karina Rodriguez, who have a team-best four goals this season, while sophomore Cristina Ramirez leads all Eagles with 10 points (three goals and four assists).  Senior Charlotte Butker is tied with Ramirez for the team lead with four assists.  Defensively, junior Liz Arnold has recorded four individual shutouts, and has registered a 0.54 goals-against average and a .842 save percentage.

Emory is led by Head Coach Sue Patberg, now in her 10th year with the team.  She has compiled a 133-30-29 record with the Eagles entering Tuesday's game, good for a .772 winning percentage.  During her 22-year career as a college head coach, which includes stints at Division I programs in Georgia and Minnesota, Patberg is 279-117-47.  She is assisted by Rachel Moreland, Caroline Coates and goalkeeper coach Mike Wentzler. 


Birmingham-So. Panthers
The Panthers will enter Monday's game with a 7-3-1 overall record, including a 4-0-1 home mark.  Through 11 games this season, Birmingham-Southern has outscored opponents by a 34-11 margin, averaging 3.1 goals per game and a 0.98 goals-against average this season.  The team has outshot opponents 231-101 this year, including a 115-52 advantage in shots on goal.

The Panthers are led offensively by Jessica Sperry, who has scored 12 goals and assisted on three others for 27 points, while Sammy Manzo has added six goals and three assists for 15 points.  Ansley Tomlin (0.93 GAA, .778 save %) and Katie Williams (1.01 GAA, .794 save %) have split time in goal for Birmingham-Southern this season.

Birmingham-Southern is under the leadership of first year head coach Sean McBride.  He is assisted by Linda Amaya.

Series History
Emory is 6-0-0 all-time against Birmingham-Southern, including a 3-0-0 record at the Woodruff P.E. Center.  Last season in Birmingham, the Eagles came away with a 2-0 win over the Panthers, during which former player Lauren Gorodetsky scored both goals, and Emory outshot Birmingham-Southern 26-4, including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.  Senior Charlotte Butker has scored two goals and assisted on two others in three career games against Birmingham-Southern, while senior Emily Feldman has added on a career goal of her own.
