Eagles & Panthers to Play Make-Up Game on Tuesday

The Emory University Eagles will travel to Birmingham-Southern College for a meeting with the Panthers at 8:00 PM ET on Tuesday, October 28th in Birmingham, Alabama, as the two squads will attempt to make-up a rained-out contest from earlier in the season for the second time.

The game was originally scheduled for September 12th in Atlanta, but was cancelled due to thunderstorms in the area.  A make-up game in Birmingham scheduled for October 13th was also cancelled for weather concerns.

Emory Eagles
The Eagles, ranked 19th in the latest NSCAA poll and 12th in the D3Soccer.com rankings, improved to 8-1-5 overall for the season and to 4-0-3 on the road with a 9-0 win at LaGrange College last Wednesday.  Emory has outscored its opposition by a 33-8 mark this year, while outshooting opposing teams 301-112, including a 170-49 edge in shots on goal.

Emory's leading scorer this season is senior Karina Rodriguez, who has notched six goals and an assist for 13 points.  Senior Emily Feldman (five goals and one assist) and sophomore Cristina Ramirez (three goals and five assists) have each added 11 points this year, while freshman Kaitlyn Dorka is in double-digits in points with three goals and four assists for 10 points.  In goal, junior Liz Arnold has started 13 of 14 games, recording a 0.59 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage.

Emory is led by Head Coach Sue Patberg, now in her 10th year with the team.  She has compiled a 134-30-31 record with the Eagles entering Tuesday's game, good for a .772 winning percentage.  During her 22-year career as a college head coach, which includes stints at Division I programs in Georgia and Minnesota, Patberg is 280-117-49.  She is assisted by Rachel Moreland, Caroline Coates and goalkeeper coach Mike Wentzler.

Birmingham-Southern Panthers
Birmingham-Southern will try to put an end to a three-game losing streak on Tuesday, which has brought the team's record to 8-6-1 overall, including a 5-1-1 mark in home games.  The Panthers have outscored opposing teams by a 37-8 margin this season, while outshooting squads 285-92, including a 141-45 edge in shots on goal.

Junior Jessica Sperry leads all Panthers with 12 goals and four assists for 28 points this season, while junior Sammy Manzo has added seven goals and three assists for 17 points.  Junior Katie Williams (0.98 GAA, .811 save percentage) and sophomore Ansley Tomlin (1.35 GAA, .725 save percentage) have split time in goal this season for Birmingham-Southern.

Birmingham-Southern is under the leadership of first year head coach Sean McBride.  He is assisted by Linda Amaya.

Series History
Emory is 6-0-0 all-time against Birmingham-Southern, including a 3-0-0 record at the Woodruff P.E. Center.  Last season in Birmingham, the Eagles came away with a 2-0 win over the Panthers, during which former player Lauren Gorodetsky scored both goals, and Emory outshot Birmingham-Southern 26-4, including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.  Senior Charlotte Butker has scored two goals and assisted on two others in three career games against Birmingham-Southern, while senior Emily Feldman has added on a career goal of her own.

Emory's nine goals scored against LaGrange last Wednesday were the most scored by the team in a game since a 9-0 win over Sewanee on September 15, 2012… Four Eagles – freshmen Anna Gurney, Blair Ely and Emily Franty and junior Chloe Donegan – each scored their first career goals against LaGrange… Emory's first goal of the game, scored by senior Claudia Rowe at the 3:15 mark, was the earliest the Eagles have scored in a game this season… The Eagles are 8-0-2 against non-conference opponents this season, including a 3-0-0 mark against teams that play in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA)… Emory has outscored its three SAA opponents – Sewanee, Berry and Centre – by a combined 8-0 margin this year.
