Arnold Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

Emory University junior goalkeeper Liz Arnold was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), based on her athletic and academic performance, both this season and over her career as an Eagle.

This was the second Academic All-District honor for Arnold, who has claimed each of her two eligible seasons.  By virtue of being named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, Arnold will be placed on the ballot for the Academic all-America Team.  The first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Friday, November 21st.

Arnold, an All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Honorable Mention in 2013 and a three-time conference Athlete of the Week (including twice this year), ranks 40th among Division III players with a 0.57 goals-against average and 89th with a .833 save percentage.  She has contributed to eight team shutouts this year, including four individual clean sheets, and has an overall record of 7-1-5 over 14 starts.  For her career, Arnold is ranked sixth in school history with 22 wins (22-4-6 overall record), sixth with 90 saves, and fifth with 10 shutouts and a 0.50 goals-against average.

Academically, Arnold is a two-time Academic All-UAA honoree with a 3.897 cumulative grade point average as a Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology and Psychology dual major.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Emory is part of District 5, which includes Division III schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Arnold and the Eagles, 9-1-5 on the season, will wrap-up their regular season home schedule this weekend, when the team plays host to the University of Rochester on Friday at 7:30 PM and Case Western Reserve University on Sunday at 1:30 PM.
