#21 Eagles’ Season Ends with 1-0 NCAA Loss to Kenyon

21st-ranked Emory University saw its 2014 campaign come to a close on Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles fell to Kenyon College 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships on Saturday afternoon in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

Kenyon, now 13-7-1, will advance to the second round of the tournament to face host and ninth-ranked Thomas More College at 1:30 PM on Sunday, November 16th

Emory controlled possession the majority of the first half outshooting the Ladies 11-2 during the frame, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.  However, Kenyon struck first in the contest, taking a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when Becca Romaine launched a shot from the outskirts of the 18 that went just over the hands of Liz Arnold for the goal.  It was Romaine's 17th goal of the campaign.

The Eagles had one of their better opportunities to equalize the match in the 56th minute, when a pair of corner kicks led to two shots for senior Jennifer Grant.  However, the first, a header shot, went off the post, and the second sailed just wide of the net.

In the 82nd minute, senior Emily Feldman launched a low shot towards net, but Kenyon keeper Alissa Poolpol preserved the clean sheet with a diving save.  Despite outshooting the Ladies 12-1 in the second half, including a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal, the Eagles would be unable to even the score before the final whistle.

The Eagles' season comes to a close with an 11-2-6 record.
