Early Goal Leads Chicago Past Women's Soccer in UAA Opener

The Emory University women's soccer team fell to 7-4 and 0-1 in the UAA on Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Chicago 1-0.

The Maroons got on the board early in the first half after Jenna McKinney scored a remarkable goal in the sixth minute of the contest. McKinney got the ball from a teammate at midfield and somehow maneuvered around five Eagles defenders that closed in around her on her way to the goal before just putting it past a diving Liz Arnold on a grounder. Arnold made six saves in the contest including a few outstanding ones late in the second half to keep the game at 1-0.

Emory had some chances after falling behind early but could not find the equalizer. Nikki Batt, Jordan Morell and Kaitlyn Dorka all led the team with two shots on goal. For the game, Emory outshot Chicago 15-13 and 8-7 in shots on goal.

The Eagles will look to snap their current skid next Saturday when they return to campus to host #7 Washington University at 11:00 AM.
