Women's Soccer to Face Rochester in Season Finale

Women's Soccer to Face Rochester in Season Finale

The Emory University women’s soccer team wraps up the 2015 regular season against the University of Rochester. The Eagles are looking to snap their current eight-game unbeaten streak and pick up a victory for the first time since September 27th while the Yellowjackets enter the day 8-6-2 on the season and have won three of their past five games. However, UofR is 0-1-1 in the last two games and are coming off a 1-1 tie against #8 Brandeis. Before the start of the game, Emory seniors Liz Arnold, Jordan Morell, Ally Peterson and Kristin Temple will be honored with an on-field ceremony.

Coverage

The finale will be broadcasted live on emoryathletics.com. The broadcast will be streamed in standard definition with an upgrade to high definition available for a fee of $7.00. The pregame Senior Day ceremony will also be streamed if family or friends are unable to make it to the Woodruff PE Center.

Emory Eagles Notes & Preview

The Eagles are hoping to close out the season with a victory over the Yellowjackets. A win would help Emory avoid a winless record in UAA play for the first time in school history. A victory would also clinch a winning record for the Blue and Gold for the 27th straight season. The Eagles are also currently in the middle of a streak that has not been seen before since the program’s inception in 1986. Emory has played in five straight double overtime games, something that has never happened in the 30-year history of the program. The Eagles are 0-1-4 during the streak and have played to a tie in three straight contests. Junior Cristina Ramirez scored the team’s lone goal the last time out in a 1-1 tie against NYU. It was her team leading fifth goal on the season and she now has recorded five goals in each of her three seasons for 15 career goals. Senior Liz Arnold recorded a scoreless first half against the Violets to drop her season GAA to 0.78 which ranks 59th in all of Division III. Emory as a team owns a 0.718 GAA which is the 54th best mark in the country. Arnold also ranks 136th in the nation with a .803 save percentage.

Rochester Yellowjackets Notes & Preview

Rochester features a spread out offense with 14 different players accounting for 23 goals on the season including seven players with more than one goal. McKenzie Runyan tops the team with four goals and eight points on the season while Laura Cowie-Haskell is second with three tallies. In goal, Madilynne Lee has started all 16 games for the Yellowjackets. She owns five shutouts to go along with a 0.80 GAA and 64 saves for a .831 save percentage. Rochester is led on the sidelines by fifth-year Head Coach Thomas Dardaganis. He owns a 23-34-11 during his tenure with the team.

All-Time Series Record

Emory trails Rochester 13-9-6 in the all-time series, the only UAA opponent the Eagles have a sub-.500 record against. Emory however has had success against the Yellowjackets at home, owning a 7-3-3 in 13 games played in Atlanta. The Eagles are unbeaten in the last five meetings in the series with a 3-0-2 record. The teams played to a scoreless tie last season at Emory.
