Emory Women's Soccer Doubles Up Thomas More, 4-2

Senior Abbe McCarter had a game-high four points as the Emory University Women's Soccer team snapped its two-game losing skid with a 4-2 win against Thomas More College Sunday afternoon in Sewanee, Tennessee. The game was played on the campus of the University of the South.

McCarter netted her third goal of the season and collected a pair of assists to lead the Eagles to the two-goal victory. Senior Madison Phaneuf and juniors Caroline Kolski and Shivani Beall each tallied goals while sophomore Lily Dresner also registered an assist in the win.

Phaneuf opened the scoring in the 10th minute with her third goal of the year, beating the keeper to the far post following the long pass to the top of the 18 by Dresner. Thomas More answered 10 minutes later as Lindsey Brown scored on a long strike from 25 yards out.

The score remained 1-1 until the early stages of the second half when Kolski put the Eagles in front with her second marker of the season. The Saints responded fiercely, finding the equalizer just 21 seconds later.

Emory regained the lead in the 59th minute when a McCarter corner kick was misplayed by the Saints' GK and crossed the goal line for the score. Beall doubled the Eagles lead in the 79th, converting from right in front following the centering pass from McCarter.

Emory returns to action this Friday night as the Eagles host in-state foe Piedmont College. Kick off from the WoodPEC is set for 7:00 PM.
