No.-5 WashU Defeats Emory Women's Soccer, 1-0, in UAA Home Opener

The Emory University women's soccer team outplayed No.-5 ranked Washington University-St. Louis for the majority of Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell to its conference rival, 1-0, at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

WashU's Ariana Mills served up the decisive goal in the 79th minute, beating senior Haley Pratt on a one-on-one scoring chance following the pass by Ellie DeConinck that set up the opportunity. The goal was Mills fifth goal of the season.

The Eagles held the second-highest scoring offense in the UAA to just one goal on five shots, three shots in goal, in WashU's lowest output in both categories this season.

Emory on the offensive end, tallied 10 shots in the match with three coming on target but were held out of the back of the net by goalkeeper Emma Greenfield. All three shots on goal came off the boot of senior Shivani Beall.

The Eagles continue their UAA slate next weekend on the road against No.-16 ranked Case Western Reserve Friday night before traveling to Pittsburgh to take on Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday.
