Kylie Hall's Brace Leads Women's Soccer Past ETBU, 5-1, in Home Opener

The Emory University women's soccer team earned a thunderous victory Friday night, celebrating its home opener by a 5-1 margin over visiting East Texas Baptist University.

Senior Kylie Hall had a huge night for the Eagles, notching a pair of goals while adding an assist for a team-leading five points. She was joined in the scoring column by classmate Aubrey Blanchard, junior Grace Reyer and sophomore Natalie Price as Emory registered five goals for a second time this season.

The Eagles finished the contest with a 24-6 edge in shots and outpaced the Tigers 10-1 in total corner kicks.

Reyer opened the scoring in the 14th minute, one-timing a cross in by Hall. The goal was Reyer's second of the campaign. ETBU found the equalizer towards the end of the first half as Brianna Mickshaw slotted one under the reach of Emma Miller.

The score remained 1-1 until the Eagles opened the flood gates with four goals over a 20 minute span in the second half, starting with Hall's first tally in the 64th minute. Hall was able to put the Eagles ahead at the 63:19 mark, finishing from close range off the rebound from a Mia Han shot that drew iron.

Blanchard made it a 3-1 game at the 71:52 mark, firing a shot from long range over the leaping attempt by the Tigers keeper. Hall tacked on another one less than three minutes later, dribbling through three defenders before beating the keeper to the far post.

Price closed out the scoring with her first goal of the season, tacking on Emory's fifth goal in the 85th minute. Senior Riley Brackin sent a centering pass into the box, finding Price who one-touched it home.

Emory, now 2-2 on the season, will return to action next Friday, September 16th as the team hosts Sewanee at 7:00 PM at the WoodPEC.
