Blanchard Scores Twice as Women's Soccer Earns Decisive Victory over Sewanee

Four second half goals led the charge as the Emory University women's soccer team picked up a decisive 5-0 victory over the Sewanee Tigers Friday night at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

Senior Aubrey Blanchard was the driving force behind the win, notching a pair of goals to lead the team in scoring. Three additional Eagles found the scoring column while five players recorded an assist on the five tallies including a career-high three from senior Kylie Hall.

Senior LJ Kolodge began the scoring with Emory's lone goal of the opening half, tapping in a corner kick from Hall in the 30th minute.

Blanchard then continued the scoring with back-to-back goals three minutes apart. She scored her first of the night at the 61:24 mark, knocking in the rebound following an attempt by Grace Reyer that was knocked away by the keeper but right to Blanchard. Hall set up the sequence with an excellent dribble around one defender before sending a sliding centering cross that found Reyer. Blanchard tacked on her second at the 64:34 mark, finishing from close range off the long feed from Hall.

Seniors Natalie Klar and Riley Brackin provided the final touches, scoring moments apart in the game's closing minutes. The duo linked up on the Eagles' fourth goal as Klar headed in a Brackin corner kick at 84:29 before Brackin came through with game's final score just over a minute later. Classmate Brooke Tylka sent a ball from the end line into the middle of the box where it went off the foot of Klar prior to finding Brackin who finished past the keeper.

The Eagles ended the game with a 30-4 advantage in shots and had 17 on frame. Senior Emma Miller made three saves to register the shutout.

Next up, the Eagles will meet the University of Lynchburg in Charlotte, NC for a Sunday afternoon contest to be played at the Charlotte Latin School. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
