Women's Soccer Runs Win Streak to Seven; Kylie Hall Breaks Single-Season Assists Record

The Emory University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to seven games Saturday afternoon with another convincing performance, defeating University of Chicago by a 3-0 margin at Stagg Field in Chicago.

The Eagles (8-2 overall) are now off to their best start in UAA play in 20 years, standing at 2-0 through two games and sit tied atop the conference standings with Case Western Reserve with five games to play. Saturday also marked the first time since 2001 that an Emory squad has beaten WashU and Chicago in the same season.

Senior Kylie Hall was once again the focal point on offense for the Eagles, racking up her conference-leading 13th assist of the season to establish a new single-season team record for most assists. She now has at least one assist in all seven games of the team's winning streak, extending her team record of most consecutive games with an assist. She was one of two Eagles to finish the game with one goal and one assist, joining freshman Samantha Lim as the offensive leaders.

The Eagles did all of their damage within a six minute span late in the first half and clamped down on the defensive end to record the team's third shutout in a row and fifth of the year.

Junior Mia Han notched Emory's first goal in the 31st minute. Lim found Han who was all alone behind the defense on the left and finished it for her third goal of the season.

After picking up the assist, Lim found the back of the net 88 seconds later as she drilled the far post off of a Hall corner kick. Hall rounded out the scoring at the 35:56 mark when she converted a penalty kick with ease for her fifth goal.

The Eagles held the Maroons without a shot for the first 55 minutes of the game and ended the contest with 16-4 lead in the shots department and 8-2 in shots on goal. Senior Emma Miller recorded both stops between the posts to collect her third clean sheet.

Emory returns to Atlanta for the next two games as the team hosts NYU and Brandeis in the first UAA double weekend of the year. Kickoff with the Violets is set for 7:30 PM Friday night at the WoodPEC.
