Women's Soccer Wins Eighth Straight; Off to Best UAA Start Since 2000

The Emory University women's soccer team won its eighth consecutive game Friday night, defeating the Violets of New York University 1-0 in Atlanta.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in UAA play, marking the program's best start in conference play since 2000 when that Emory squad won its first six league games and finished the UAA slate at 6-0-1. Through three games, Emory stands tied atop the UAA standings with Case Western Reserve at 3-0-0 with four games remaining. Following the loss, NYU drops to 5-2-5 overall and 0-2-1 in the UAA.

Despite seeing her streak of consecutive games with an assist come to an end at a program-record seven games, senior Kylie Hall was still a standout on the scoresheet as she recorded the only goal of the night. Following a hard tackle inside the box, Hall stepped up the penalty spot and pushed her attempt past the diving keeper for the score in the 18th minute. The goal was Hall's sixth of the season as she increased her season points total to a UAA-leading 25.

The Eagles finished the game with a 13-5 edge in total shots including a 6-2 margin in shots on goal. Junior Grace Reyer and graduate student Mara Rodriguez paced the Eagles in shots with three apice while senior Emma Miller made two saves in the win as the Eagles ran their shutout streak to four straight games.

Emory looks to close out the UAA double weekend on Sunday against Brandeis University with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 PM.
