Women's Soccer Earns Senior Day Win Over Rochester on Late PK

The Emory University women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a win on Saturday afternoon, defeating the University of Rochester 3-2 on Senior Day.

Prior to the start of the game, the Eagles honored their graduating class of Haley Barge, Aubrey Blanchard, Riley Brackin, Ciannah Correa, Natalie Klar, LJ Kolodge, Emma Miller, Natalie Price, Peyton Robertson and Brooke Tylka with a special on-field ceremony.

Emory opened the scoring in the 17th minute as Brackin celebrated her senior day in style with a left footed strike off the long pass from Kylie Hall. The goal was Brackin's second of the year while the assist was Hall's UAA-leading 14th.

The Eagles added another goal to increase their lead in the 53rd minute when graduate student Mara Rodriguez curled a shot past the UR keeper and into the top-left corner off the feed from sophomore Claudia Schmidt.

The Yellowjackets began to mount their comeback however, finding their first goal at the 64 minute mark when Claire Grover scored her UAA-leading 13th goal on pass from Sarah Martin.

After the Eagles missed on a pair shots that went wide, UR found its equalizer in the 80th minute as the Yellowjackets took advantage of a turnover before Lauren Carrico found Natalie Kocsis with some open space, allowing Kocsis to score on a strike to the top-left corner of the net.

With the score tied at 2-2 in the closing minutes, a takedown in the box proved costly for the visitors as the foul sent Hall to the penalty spot with 3:06 left to play. As has been the case all season, Hall provided the heroics as she calmly converted the PK to seal the win.

It was Hall's team-leading eighth goal of the season and fourth successful penalty kick of the year. She ends the regular season with 30 points (8G, 14A), becoming just the ninth player in team history to reach 30 points in a single season and first Eagle to do so since Annie Schenck (33) and Amber Poe (32) both accomplished the feat during the 2001 season.

With the win, Emory finishes the regular season with a 12-4 record and third in the UAA at 5-2 – marking the third top-three finish for the program since 2018. The Yellowjackets end the regular season with an overall record 7-4-5 and 2-3-2 in the UAA. The Eagles also end the regular season with a perfect 7-0 record at home, the first unblemished record at the WoodPEC since 2011 when that Emory squad went 9-0.

The Eagles, looking to earn a berth to their fourth straight NCAA tournament, will now await their postseason fate when the tournament field is announced Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM on NCAA.com.
