Women's Soccer Handles Illinois Wesleyan; Kylie Hall Breaks Career Assists Record

The No. 24 ranked Emory University women's soccer team bounced back in a big way Friday night, dispatching visiting Illinois Wesleyan University by a 5-0 count in Atlanta.

Graduate student Kylie Hall made history on the evening as her two assists pushed her into sole possession of first place in Emory women's soccer history with 33 in her storied career. She entered the game in a tie for the top spot with Sylvia Ghani who had held the record since the 1997 season. Through four games, Hall leads all Emory players with six points with one goal and five assists.

Five different Eagles recorded a goal in the win as Emory improved to 3-1 on the year while the Titans dropped to 1-5 with their fourth consecutive defeat.

Freshman Kaitlyn Nimmer was the recipient of Hall's record-breaking pass in the game's third minute as she tapped in the brilliant cross from inside the six. The goal was Nimmer's second of her young career.

Emory would be able to strike two more times in the opening half with Nikki Grosso notching her first career goal with 15:23 minutes left in the half, one-timing the Katie Hungness centering feed from the penalty spot. Three minutes later graduate transfer Sylvie Prepetit wowed the crowd with an unreal strike off the post from 30 yards out for her first tally in an Emory uniform.

The score remained 3-0 until the 54th minute when Hall picked up her second assist of the night. Hall lined up for a free kick and sent a ball into the middle of the 18 where senior Emma Cornejo was able to meet it and deflect it into the back of the net. Classmate Mia Han rounded out the scoring eight minutes later with a left-footed shot that one-bounced past the IWU keeper.

For the second time this season, the Eagles held the opposition without a shot across the 90 minutes, finishing with a 31-0 advantage and had 19 shots on frame.

Next up for the Eagles will be a pair of regional rivalries, beginning first with the University of Lynchburg Sunday afternoon. Kickoff against the Hornets is scheduled for 1:30 pm at the Charlotte Soccer Academy in North Carolina.
