Women’s Soccer Falls to Case Western Reserve 3-1

The No. 25 Emory women's soccer team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio for a UAA clash with No. 6 Case Western Reserve on Saturday. Despite outshooting the Spartans 12-6, the Eagles fell 3-1 on the road.

The potent Spartan offense jumped out to a quick start, scoring two goals in the first 14 minutes of the match. The Spartans found the back of the net by virtue of a well-placed header in the sixth minute, then a bicycle kick from inside of the box in the 14th minute for their second goal. The Spartans also tacked on a third goal in the 78th minute to bolster their lead.

The Eagles' lone goal came in the 87th minute when freshman Kaitlyn Nimmer delivered a strike from inside of the box, going off the bottom of the cross bar and in to put the Eagles on the board. The Eagles had a few opportunities offensively, but ultimately failed to find the back of the net.

With the loss, the Eagles drop to 5-3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play this season. Emory women's soccer will return home next weekend as the No. 1 ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans are set to come to Atlanta for a conference battle. The match against the Tartans will kick off at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 14 at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
