Kylie Hall’s Second Half Goal Propels Women’s Soccer to 1-0 Victory Over UAA-foe Brandeis

The Emory women's soccer team (7-3-3) hosted UAA-foe Brandeis on Friday evening for Emory's homecoming match. The Eagles sent the packed homecoming crowd home happy with a 1-0 victory, as senior forward Kylie Hall found the back of the net in the 71st minute for the match's lone goal. With the win, the Eagles picked up their first UAA victory of the season and improve their conference record to 1-2-1 on the season.

While the Judges were held scoreless, they managed to put seven shots on net. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Garcia made a plethora of acrobatic saves, saving all seven shots the Judges sent her way. The Judges tested Garcia early, but a leaping save by the sophomore early on set the tone for the rest of the match.

The Emory offense ripped off 17 shots, with six going on net. The Eagles consistently pushed into the attacking zone but could not capitalize on the opportunities that presented themselves. That is until the senior duo of Grace Reyer and Hall teamed up for a stunning goal. Reyer dribbled towards the endline before finding Hall at the top of box where she settled the ball before firing her shot passed the diving goalkeeper and into the top of the net. Hall led the team in shots with four and shots on goal with three.

The Judges attempted to mount a comeback, but a late red card on Brandeis stifled any chance of tying the match. The Eagles played conservatively in the final 20 minutes of the match, securing the 1-0 victory.

The Eagles will be back on the pitch Sunday morning with another chance to climb the UAA table with the NYU Violets set to visit. Prior to the match, the women's soccer program will honor its senior class. The contest with the Violets is scheduled to kickoff at 11:00 AM at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
