Women's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw at UChicago

In the second-to-last game of the regular season, the Emory University women's soccer team linked up with the University of Chicago and played to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon in Chicago.

Two first half goals told the story as the two UAA programs settled for the deadlock. With the tie, the Eagles will head into next week's finale at 8-4-4 on the season and 1-3-2 inside the UAA. The Maroons now move to 1-1-4 in league play following Saturday's contest and 9-2-6 on the year going into next week's match with top-ranked WashU.

Seniors Mia Han and Grace Reyer continued to be in sync with one another as the duo combined for another Emory goal, their third in three straight games, putting the Eagles ahead at the 13:40 mark.

Chicago evened the score inside the final minute of the opening half when Avery Galluci put in a rebound following the initial save by sophomore Sophia Garcia on a Stella El-Fishawy shot attempt.

In the second half, play was even across the two sides with both teams tallying 10 shots a piece and four shots on goal. No save was bigger than the one by Garcia in the 81st minute when she denied El-Fishawy on a penalty kick opportunity following a handball in the box.

Freshmen Kaitlyn Nimmer had the game's final chances with two shots over the final nine minutes but could not find the back of the net.

For the game, the Eagles led 19-13 in total shots while both teams put seven shots on goal.

Emory will conclude the 2023 regular season next Saturday, November 4th at No. 10 University of Rochester.
