Women's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale, 2-1, at #6 Rochester

The Emory University women's soccer team fell by a score of 2-1 in the regular season finale at the No. 6 Rochester Yellowjackets Saturday afternoon in Rochester, New York.

The Yellowjackets scored the game-winning goal with 4:10 remaining in the game to pull out the one-goal victory. With the result, Rochester ends the regular season at 12-0-5 while the Eagles see their record slip to 8-5-4.

UR's Claire Grover scored the second of her two goals in the contest, knocking in a deflection on the goal line to break a 1-1 tie in the 86th minute. Sydney Holmes initially hit the post but the redirect found Grover on the other side of the net who tapped it in.

Grover pushed home another deflection earlier in the half, scoring on a rebound in the 63rd minute to even the score at 1-1.

Forty seconds prior to Grover finding the equalizer, freshmen Kaitlyn Nimmer opened the scoring with a beautiful left-footed tap in following a far cross from senior Grace Reyer. Nimmer closes the regular season with nine tallies, the most by a freshman since Natalie Klar registered nine markers during her 2019 campaign.

Emory will now await its NCAA postseason fate as the bracket will be unveiled Monday afternoon at 1:30 PM on NCAA.com.
