Women's Soccer Secures At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament; Set to Face UMHB in First Round

For the fifth consecutive season, the Emory University women's soccer team will be playing in the NCAA tournament after receiving an at-large bid to the 64-team field as announced on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles (8-5-4) draw Mary Hardin-Baylor, who is serving as the regional host, in the opening round. The Crusaders boast a near perfect 16-1-1 record, with their sole loss coming in the Championship match of the American Southwest Conference. The Crusaders boast a talented offense paired with a stout defense that allows just 0.33 goals per game. This will be the first time in both programs' history that the two will meet on the pitch.

Joining Emory and Mary Hardin-Baylor at the regional in Belton, Texas are Hardin-Simmons and Trinity (TX). The winner of Emory and Mary Hardin-Baylor will take on the winner of Hardin-Simmons and Trinity's match.

This is Emory's 21st all-time appearance in the NCAA tournament and 13th under Head Coach Sue Patberg. Patberg and the Eagles are coming off a Sweet 16 appearance last season. To see the entire 64-team field, please click here.
