Emory University senior Ruth Westby was a part of six NCAA ‘A' cut performances during the Miami (Ohio) Invitational last weekend. Competing against mostly Division I opponents, Westby recorded a first place finish with an ‘A' cut time of 1:50.67 in the 200-yard freestyle, after recording an ‘A' cut time of 1:50.00 in the preliminaries. She also recorded a pair of automatic qualifying times in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing second during the finals with a time of 51.09 seconds. Westby went on to lead Emory's 200-yard freestyle relay team to a first place finish, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a third place finish, recording automatic qualifying times in both events. The three-time National Champion also recorded ‘B' cut times in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries and finals, and as part of Emory's 400-yard medley relay team. Westby scored 140.5 points for Emory during the meet, helping the Eagles to a third-place finish out of 10 teams at the invitational.
