Emory Swimming & Diving Sweeps Division II Teams in its Final Home Dual Meet of 2010

The top-ranked Emory University women's swimming and diving team and the fourth ranked men's team looked strong in their final home dual meet of the year, as the Eagles each picked up a pair of victories over Division II schools Delta State University and Wingate University.

The Emory women triumphed 145 - 120 over eighth-ranked Delta State and 151 - 105 over 15th-ranked Wingate.  The Emory men came away with a 163.5 - 116.5 win against fifth-ranked Delta State and a 156 - 114 win over 10th-ranked Wingate. 

Emory's women's team came away with first-place finishes in 12 of the 15 events, including two each for Chelsea Murphy the diving events, April Whitley in the breaststroke events, and Lillian Ciardelli in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle.

Recording provisional qualifying times during the meet were April Whitley (100 breast, 200 breast), Marie Kim (100 breast), Lillian Ciardelli (100 fly, 100 free), Amy Minowitz (1,650 free), Anne Culpepper (1,650 free), Natty Chalermpalanupap (1,650-yard freestyle), Whitley Taylor (200 free), Claire Pavlak (50 free), Ruth Westby (50 free), Liz Horvat (200 IM), Jennifer Aronoff (200 IM), and Ann Wolber (100 free).  Emory also had a pair of teams in the 400-yard freestyle relay record provisional qualifying times.

The Eagle women improved to 6-2 in dual meets this season with the victories.

The Emory men recorded first-place finishes in six of the 15 events, including two for Daniel Kolb in the one-meter and three meter dives. 

Kolb also recorded an NCAA qualifying time in the one meter dive with a score of 291.00, while Kevin Yamada (100 breast), John Petroff (100 fly) and Peter O'Brien (200 breast) recorded NCAA ‘B' cut times during the meet.

Emory's men raised their 2009-10 record to 5-2 in dual meets during the campaign.

Emory will return to action next weekend, traveling across the city to face Division I Georgia Tech.
