The Emory University men’s and women’s swimming and
diving programs were recognized as Scholar All-America Teams by the
College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), and 34
individuals received Scholar All-America or Honorable Mention
recognition.
The 2010-11 Emory men’s program recorded a cumulative team
grade point average of 3.52, the third-highest mark among the NCAA
Division III squads that were recognized by the CSCAA. The
women’s squad featured a cumulative GPA of 3.56, the
seventh-highest among Division III teams.
The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and
university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a
cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is
presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and
in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships
(Winter/Spring).
Sixteen members of the Emory women’s team were named Scholar
All-Americans, including seniors Liz Horvat, and
Amy Minowitz, juniors Jennifer Aronoff,
Anne Culpepper, Claire Pavlak, and
Whitley Taylor, sophomores Taryn
Lushinsky,Mia Michalak, Ann
Wolber and Theresa Gallagher, and
freshmen Suzanne Lemberg, Laura
Manor, Courtney McDermott, Kylie
McKenzie, Micah Sims, and Brooke
Woodward. The 16 Eagle honorees
topped all other schools, with Kenyon College closest to Emory with
eight honorees.
Earning Scholar All-America honors for the Emory men were senior
Mackenzie Perry, juniors Daniel
Kolb, Sean Ransenberg, and Ben
Redpath, sophomores Justin Beegle,
Peter O’Brien, and Richard
Upton, and freshman Matt
O’Brien. The eight honorees for Emory also
marked the most by a Division III team.

cumulative average, and have qualified for their respective
national championship. The award is presented in the semester of
the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
Earning Honorable Mention Scholar All-America awards for the women
were senior Marie Kim, and freshmen
Roxanne Capron, Sarah Greene, and
Adelaide Taylor. Claiming the award for the
men were juniors Joel Dobben, Jared
Dubnow, and Zeke Van Keuren, sophomores
Jeff Simpson and Kolin Smialek,
and freshman Abhijan Khosla.
The Honorable Mention Scholar All American award is presented to
college and university swimmers and divers, who have achieved a
grade point average of 3.5 or higher, for the semester or
cumulative average, and have achieved a “B” time
standard, but have not qualified to compete in their respective
national championship. The award is presented in the semester of
the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
The academic honors cap off a strong season both in and out of the
pool for the Eagles, after the Emory women won their
second-consecutive National Championship, and the men finished
third at the NCAA Division III Championships. The Eagles will
kick off their 2011-12 season at the Woodruff Physical Education
Center on Friday, October 7th with the Blue/Gold Long
Course Meet.
