Emory Women’s Free Relays & Douglas Named Final UAA Swimmers of the Week

Emory University senior Renee Rosenkranz, sophomore Nancy Larson, senior Ann Wolber and senior Anna Dobben were each named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Swimmers of the Week, while senior Miller Douglas earned the men's honor, after combining to win three National Titles at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend.

Rosenkranz, Larson, Wolber and Dobben won National Championships in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.  The quartet set a new NCAA Division III record in the 400-yard freestyle relay, winning the event with a time of 3:21.28, besting the previous record mark by over seven-tenths of a second.  It marked the fourth-consecutive year that Emory has won the event at the NCAA Championships.  The four also won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.93, giving the Eagles' their second-straight title in the event, and their fourth in the last five years.  As a program, the two relay titles give the women's program 13 relay National Championships all time, and 38 NCAA Championships overall.

Dobben, Rosenkranz and Larson were also a part of Emory's third-place 800-yard freestyle relay (7:20.85), while Dobben and Rosenkranz swam on the Eagles' second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:42.99) and Larson on the Eagles' third-place 400-yard medley relay (3:44.49).  Dobben added individual all-America finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (fourth-place, 50.41 in the preliminaries) and 200-yard freestyle (second-place, 1:48.64), and an honorable mention in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing ninth in a school-record time of 54.84 seconds.  Rosenkranz claimed individual all-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle (sixth-place, 23.34 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (fifth-place, 50.58 seconds) and an honorable mention in the 100-yard breaststroke (ninth-place, 1:03.59), and Larson picked up all-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle (seventh-place, 23.49 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (tied for sixth-place, 50.89 seconds).

The four Emory swimmers helped lead the Emory Women's Swimming and Diving team to its fourth-consecutive NCAA Division III Championship.

Douglas claimed six all-America honors in Shenandoah, Texas last week, including the National Championship in the 200-yard butterfly.  Douglas won the National Championship with a time of 1:46.64 in the finals of the event, becoming the third-straight Eagle to win the 200-yard butterfly at the NCAA Championships.  He also earned all-America finishes in his other two individual events, finishing sixth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:49.78, and seventh in the 400-yard individual medley after swimming a time of 3:56.06 in the preliminaries.  Douglas contributed to all-America finishes and school records as the fly leg of both of Emory's medley relays, leading the 200-yard medley relay to a third-place finish with a time of 1:28.72, and the 400-yard medley relay to a sixth-place finish with a mark of 3:17.28.  Douglas capped off his career with a seventh-place finish as the third leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay team.

He ended his two-year career at Emory with the one National Championship, and 10 all-America certificates.  Douglas accounted for 65.5 points at the meet, helping the Emory men record a fifth-place finish.
