Emory University freshman Annelise Kowalsky recorded an individual event victory and a pair of NCAA ‘B’ cut performances during the top-ranked Eagles dual meet at the University of Alabama on Saturday. Kowalsky won the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:04.29. Earlier in the meet, she swam the breaststroke leg of the Eagles’ 400-yard medley relay team, recording a split of 1:02.38 and helping the squad to a third-place finish with an overall time of 3:47.97, good for another ‘B’ cut. Kowalsky added a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.41 seconds, and swam the anchor leg of the Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay team, recording an individual split of 53.92 seconds (the fastest on the relay team) and leading the relay to an overall time of 3:38.74. Kowalsky totaled 13.5 points for the Eagles during the meet, as Emory fell by a final score of 178-110 to the NCAA Division I Crimson Tide.
