31 Emory Swimmers Selected to Compete at NCAA Championships

UNOFFICIAL PSYCH SHEETS: MEN | WOMEN

17 members of the Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving Team and 14 members of the men's squad have been selected to compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana from March 19th – 22nd, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday night.

The 17 Emory women selected (out of 243 total swimmers chosen for the meet) represented the second-most among the 54 teams represented at this year's meet, behind only Kenyon's 18 selections.  Eagles selected to participate include sophomore Elizabeth Aronoff, junior Megan Beach, freshman Marissa Bergh, sophomore Carolyn Bonfield, junior Dana Holt, freshman Annelise Kowalsky, junior Nancy Larson, freshman Claire Liu, senior Courtney McDermott, senior Kylie McKenzie, senior Sadie Nennig, junior McKenna Newsum-Schoenberg, freshman Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe, sophomore Ellie Thompson, senior Brooke Woodward, junior Michelle York, and junior Nina Zook.

Not included in the group of Emory's selections are the Eagles' two divers – senior Sarah Greene and sophomore Kellen Hope – who will be competing at the NCAA Diving Regionals this weekend for a chance to receive a berth to the NCAA Championships.

With 14 selections (out of 236 total swimmers), the Emory men will also be the second-best represented team at the meet, also behind Kenyon's 18 selections.  Selected Emory men's swimmers include freshman Christian Baker, junior Hayden Baker, senior Ryan Bass, freshman Hayes Burdette-Sapp, freshman Mitchell Cooper, senior Darrell Eacret, sophomore John Galvin, junior Eric Ruggieri, sophomore Jared Scheuer, senior Ross Spock, senior Jake Stephens, freshman David Tao, sophomore Andrew Wilson and sophomore Eagan Zettlemoyer.

In addition, senior Matt O'Brien was selected as an alternate to the meet, and will be eligible to compete if enough swimmers currently in the field drop out.

The Emory women will be aiming for their fifth-consecutive NCAA Division III Championship, and the program's seventh title overall, when they take to the pool in late March.  The Emory men finished fifth at last year's NCAA Championships, and have placed among the top-five teams in the country each of the last 14 seasons.
