Emory University sophomore swimmer Cindy Cheng was named the University Athletic Association Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday afternoon. It is the second time this season and third time in her career she has received the honor.
Cheng had an outstanding showing for the Eagles at the 29th Annual UAA Swimming & Diving Championships this past weekend at the Webster Aquatic Center in upstate New York. She was selected as the Women's Swimmer of the Year as the Emory women's swimming & diving team won its 18th straight UAA Championship. Cheng won individual association championships in the 200 Freestyle (1:49.59 – UAA Record), 200 Backstroke (1:59.46 - UAA Record) and was part of the UAA Championship relay teams in the 800 Freestyle (7:28.54 – UAA Record) and 400 Freestyle (3:22.71 – UAA Record). She is the seventh straight Emory women's swimmer to win the award and 17th-person overall.
The Emory swimming & diving teams will have a month off to prepare for the NCAA Division III Championships which will be held in Greensboro, NC from March 16th through the 19th.
