Annelise Kowalsky, Sage Ono Selected as UAA Swimmers of the Week

Senior Annelise Kowalsky and freshman Sage Ono from the Emory University Swimming and Diving teams were selected as the University Athletic Association Swimmers of the Week as announced late Monday afternoon. This marks Kowalsky's sixth Athlete of the Week award in her career while this is the first for Ono.

Kowalsky impressed on senior day on Saturday afternoon as Emory defeated a pair of Division II programs in Delta State (170-128) and West Florida (202-96). She took first in both Breaststroke events, helped Emory to a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay as well as a third place showing in the 200 Free Relay. Kowalsky recorded NCAA 'B' Cut times in both Breaststroke events, touching at 1:04.50 in the 100 and 2:20.75 in the 200. In the 200 MR, Kowalsky teamed with junior Cindy Cheng, sophomore Fiona Muir and classmate Marissa Bergh as the Eagles took first with a NCAA qualifying mark of 1:44.91. In the 200 Free, she swam the second leg as her foursome also featuring sophomore Ava Salmi, freshman Maria Kyle and junior Alexandra Brown finished third with a time of 1:41.34.

Ono swept both Backstroke events and helped Emory to a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay as the Eagles defeated Division II Delta State 177-121 on Saturday. Ono notched a NCAA 'B' Cut time in the 100 Back, touching at 50.00, and later added a 1:51.50 in the 200 Back. In the 200 MR, Ono along with senior Andrew Wilson and juniors Cooper Tollen, Oliver Smith notched a NCAA 'B' Cut time 1:30.67 en route to the event victory.

The Eagles will be back in the pool on Saturday, January 28th as they travel to Athens, Georgia to face the University of Georgia at 11:00 AM.
