Emory Women Finish Second at SCAD Invite; Men Place Third

The Emory University swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition in Savannah on Saturday with the women's team placing second with 755 points over the three days of events whereas the men took third with 668.5 points. Wingate was the team winner on both sides of the SCAD Invitational with 1245 points in the women's competition and 1,114.5 points in the men's events.

The final day of action for the Eagles was headlined by an event win from junior Anderson Holcomb in the 200 Breaststroke at 2:20.86 and three additional seven place efforts. Emory also recorded a pair of NCAA B Cuts with Holcomb and junior Sarah Daly in the 200 Fly at 2:05.18.

Daly paced the women's team with her second place finish in the 200 Fly with the women adding a second place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay with freshman Sammy McClintock, sophomores Claire DePiero, Avery Sammons and Kate Eaton posting a time of 3:31.71.

Junior Mollie Folk turned in a third place finish in the 200 Breaststroke, touching at 2:24.22, and in the 200 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle the Eagles were led by fourth place showings from junior Maddie Palatt (2:06.51) and DePiero (51.88).

Junior Nolan Lahmann secured a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke at 1:49.29 and was part of the 400 Freestyle Relay that took bronze, teaming with junior Dylan Yin, senior Kory Kimura and freshman Lukas Fu to record a time of 3:08.46.

Senior Chris Dieffenthaller also had a third place finish, registering a time of 2:01.68 in the 200 Breaststroke, and sophomore Jeff George and freshman Harry Kerscher each had top-five efforts in the 200 Backstroke with George taking fourth at 1:51.48 and Kerscher in fifth at 1:53.04.

Following this weekend's invitational slate, the Emory swimming & diving teams will enjoy a six week hiatus before returning to competition on January 20 with the Delta State/West Florida tri-meet.
