Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes Sixth at NCAA Championships

The Emory University women's swimming and diving team finished the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships in sixth place as the meet came to a close Saturday night at the Greensboro Aquatics Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Eagles' final night of competition consisted of five podium finishes and six consolation final appearances. As a team, Emory scored 308 points across the four days on the strength of 14 top-8 showings and 13 consolation finishes. The sixth place finish is the Eagles' 23rd straight meet inside the top-six nationally. Kenyon College captured the team title with 448 points.

On Saturday, the Eagles reached the podium in four different events, highlighted by the 200 Backstroke with two Emory swimmers in the championship final. Sophomore Isabel Huang claimed fifth place with her time of 2:00.98 while senior Megan Jungers ended her impressive career with a sixth place effort with a time of 2:01.60.

The evening got underway with junior Jada Chatoor reaching the podium for the second consecutive year in the mile, going sub 17 minutes at 16:52.28.

As the night went along, two Eagles made their first appearances in championship finals in their respective events with senior Fiona Arwood in the 200 Breaststroke and senior Tess Klugherz in the 3-meter. Arwood came in eighth with her finals time of 2:18.75 and Klugherz was third with a score of 476.65.

Five different Eagles posted Second Team All-America finishes on Saturday as the Eagles boosted their team total. In the mile, the trio of sophomore Morgan Main (17:11.30), senior Sloane Donovan (17:12.66) and sophomore Meredith Liu (17:12.75) finished between the 13th and 15th spots. For sophomore Jane Sanderson, she came in 12th in the 200 Backstroke at 2:01.96 and in the 200 Breaststroke, freshman Katie Cohen touched in 11th with a time of 2:17.50.

The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Sanderson, Huang, senior Penelope Helm, and sophomore Penny Celtnieks ended the meet for the Eagles with a win in the consolation finals as the Eagles threw down a time to 3:25.04 in the final swim of the season.
