The Eagles did not let a cancelled match ruin their senior day
festivities on Monday, as Emory University honored its three
graduating women’s tennis players, Tshema
Nash, Sabra Rogers and Sara
Vrabec.
To date, the three players have combined to help lead the Eagles to
three University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships and three
NCAA Tournament appearances, including a third-place national
finish last season and a finish in quarterfinals in 2008.
Nash has earned all-America honors in each of her three previous
seasons as an Eagle, receiving two certificates for her singles
efforts, and two for her doubles play. In addition, she was
named the UAA’s Most Valuable Player in 2008, and has earned
three all-UAA first team honors and two second team honors.
Her 64 career wins in singles player rank her 13th in
school history, and her 60 doubles victories are the
16th most in the history of the program. This
season, Nash is leading the Eagles with 19 singles victories,
including a record of 16-1 during dual matches. Nash is an
Anthropology and Human Biology major from San Marino, CA (The
Polytechnic School).
Rogers has earned three all-America honors for her doubles play,
and one for singles, during her four-year Emory career. She
has also been named to the all-UAA first team twice, once for
singles and once for doubles. Rogers, a doubles specialist,
is currently tied for 10th all-time in school history
with 66 doubles wins during her career, and her 66-43 record is
good for a .606 winning percentage. This season, she is 13-6
in doubles matches. Rogers is a Psychology major from
Charleston, SC (Bishop England).
Vrabec earned an all-America honor is 2008, after winning the ITA
Fall Regional Doubles Championship. She has also been named
to the all-UAA first team during her career for both her singles
and doubles play. This season, Vrabec has been Emory’s
most reliable singles player, going a perfect 16-0 during the
Eagles’ spring dual matches, in addition to an 11-4 record in
doubles contests. Vrabec’s .827 career singles winning
percentage (43-9) is the sixth-best in school history, and her.944
winning percentage in singles matches this season currently ranks
as the third-best single-season mark in Emory history. Vrabec
is an Anthropology and Human Biology major from Menasha, WI (St.
Mary Central).
Emory’s three seniors, along with the rest of the
Eagles’ squad, will look to win their
