Emory Women’s Tennis Announces 2010 Team Award Winners

Emory University women’s tennis head coach Amy Bryant announced the team awards for the 2010 season, headlined by the squad’s Most Valuable Player, senior Tshema Nash.

Nash finished her 2009-10 campaign with a record of 24-3 in singles matches, and a 21-6 record in doubles play, including a 20-5 record with long-time doubles partner Sabra Rogers.  Her 24 wins in singles competition were the 11th-most during a single season in school history, and her .889 winning percentage is the seventh-best in school history.  Nash also claimed the Most Improved and Coaches’ Award for the 2010 season.

The three awards cap off an extremely successful career for Nash, which included doubles all-America honors in 2008 and 2009, singles all-America honors in 2007 and 2008, and the University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player award in 2008.  During her time at Emory, she compiled a 69-27 singles record for a .719 winning percentage (the 13th-most wins and 20th-best winning percentage) and a 68-38 doubles record for a .642 winning percentage.

Also earning prominent team awards were freshman Jordan Wylie, who was named Rookie of the Year, and junior Lindsay Reidenbach, who was given the Sportsmanship Award.
