Emory University’s Zahra Dawson and
Lorne McManigle defeated Kristin Cobb and Marta
Drane of Denison University in a three-set thriller Sunday
afternoon to advance to the finals of the NCAA Division III
Women’s Tennis Doubles Tournament.
Dawson and McManigle, seeded second overall in the bracket,
defeated the duo from Denison in come-from-behind fashion, 2-6,
6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to move on to the title match that is slated to
begin at 6:00 p.m. tonight. The win brought the pair’s
doubles record to 22-12 on the season, including 8-2 in tournament
matches.
The Emory tandem will face Kendra Higgins and Chrissy Hu of the
University of Chicago. The doubles teams have met twice this
season, with Emory prevailing at the National Indoor Championships
while the second meeting was left unfinished at the UAA
Championships.
The NCAA Championships are being held at the Battleground Athletic
Complex in Fredericksburg, VA.
