Emory University freshman Gabrielle Clark finished the opening week of the spring season with a 1-1 record in both singles and doubles play, while facing an NCAA Division I squad, and one of the top NAIA teams in the nation.  During the team’s season-opening 6-3 loss to Division I Georgia State University, Clark won the second doubles match 9-7 with partner Jordan Wylie, while suffering a narrow loss in the first singles match, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5.  On Sunday, during a 5-4 Emory loss to Auburn University Montgomery, she defeated the ninth-ranked NAIA player 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 in the first singles match, while suffering a 9-8 (6) loss with Wylie to the NAIA’s fourth-ranked pairing.  Clark now stands at 8-3 in singles play and at 7-3 in doubles matches, as the third-ranked Eagles have opened their spring season with a 1-2 record.
