Zahra Dawson

Zahra Dawson

Emory University junior Zahra Dawson won the USTA/ITA Fall South Region Singles and Doubles Championships in Sewanee, TN last weekend.  Entering the singles draw as the second-seeded player, Dawson won all six of her singles matches, including a 6-1, 6-0 win over top-seeded teammate Gabrielle Clark in the championship match.  She also entered the doubles tournament with Lorne McManigle as the top-seeded pairing, going 5-0 in the draw including an 8-5 win over sixth-seeded teammates Clark and Brenna Kelly in the championship match.  It marked the second-straight season that Dawson and McManigle have won the ITA Fall South Region Doubles title.  Dawson, who has now earned all-America honors for her singles play during each of her first three seasons on the squad, and for doubles each of the last two years, will advance to the ITA Small College Nationals from October 14th-16th.
