Emory University freshman Malavika Padmanabhan was a perfect 2-0 in singles matches and 3-0 in doubles matches last weekend, leading the third-ranked Eagles to the 2011 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship.  During the Eagles’ 9-0 win in the first round, Padmanabhan teamed with Brenna Kelly to win third doubles 8-1, before claiming a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the fourth singles match.  During a 6-0 win over 15th-ranked Washington University, she won 8-3 in third doubles, and was leading 6-3, 4-1 in fourth singles before the team victory was completed, leaving her singles match unfinished.  Padmanabhan capped off the tournament by scoring a pair of points during the Eagles’ 5-2 win over the fourth-ranked University of Chicago, helping clinch the conference title with an 8-3 win in third doubles and a 6-1, 6-2 win in fifth singles.  She became the third Eagle to reach the 20-win mark in singles play this season with a 21-7 overall record, and improved to a team-best 19-4 in doubles play, including an 18-2 mark when teamed with Kelly.  Padmanabhan and the Eagles won the 23rd UAA Championship in the last 24 seasons, as the team improved to 19-4 overall.
