McManigle Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honor for Women’s Tennis

Emory University senior Lorne McManigle was named the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) Athlete of the Week for Women’s Tennis, after helping lead the third-ranked Eagles to second and third round victories during the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Tournament.

McManigle helped the Eagles advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships with 5-0 wins over Agnes Scott College and the 18th-ranked University of the South.  In the Eagles’ second round win over Agnes Scott, she teamed with Gabrielle Clark to win the first doubles match 8-0.  In the third round against host school Sewanee, the duo earned a 8-4 win over the Atlantic South Region’s fifth-ranked pairing in the first singles match, and McManigle later claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win in the third singles match.

The senior, ranked 10th in the region in singles play, improved to 19-9 on the season in singles matches.  She is also ranked fourth in the region in doubles play, and holds a 26-8 record in doubles matches this season.  It marks the second time this season that McManigle has been named the UAA Athlete of the Week, and the fifth time of her career.
